Day 6: Hiroshima

Day 6 moved us from Okayama to Hiroshima. The morning was another train-and-station start, but the day quickly became about Hiroshima itself rather than the transfer.

The main part of the day was around Peace Memorial Park, the A-Bomb Dome, and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum area. It is not the kind of stop that needs much dressing up; the place itself carries the weight.

Later, the day opened back out into the city. The afternoon included Shukkeien, with garden paths, water, and a quieter pace after the museum area.

Dinner was at a teppanyaki counter, the kind of place where the okonomiyaki is part of the performance as much as the meal. After the weight of the museum and the calm of the garden, sitting together around the hotplate gave the evening a warmer, louder shape.

By evening, Hiroshima was the new base for the next day as well: close to the station, easy to move from, and ready for the Miyajima trip.
